A Woodworker’s Journal Thanksgiving

This week in the United States, we are celebrating the holiday of Thanksgiving. And, in Minnesota, we’re kicking off the holiday season with our first significant snowfall of the year. This means that I will be thankful for being warm and dry, surrounded by family, with my tummy full of turkey.

I’m also thankful for the great Woodworker’s Journal staff and contributors, some of whom received some extra recognition this November at the annual Minnesota Magazine and Publishing Association awards. Chris Marshall, a name familiar to eZine readers, received a gold award in the how-to category for the Adirondack chair he built with his daughter for our print magazine, while Kimberly McNeelan took home the bronze in that same category for her wine rack project. Regular columnists Michael Dresdner and Ernie Conover received the gold and the bronze awards, respectively, for their continuing coverage in the print Woodworker’s Journal on the subjects of finishing and woodturning.

And our digital efforts didn’t go unrecognized. Our woodworkersjournal.com website took home the gold, while your very own Woodworker’s Journal eZine received the silver in the e-newsletter category. (I’m especially thankful this year for content coordinator Matt Hocking, whose behind-the-scenes work on the eZine is responsible for all the correct placement of pixels … or something … and who is celebrating his birthday on Thanksgiving Day.)

And, I’m thankful for all of our readers, of both our print magazine and our eZine. Go forth, feast, and be thankful!
