What’s In a Name?
In our Industry Interview in this issue’s eZine, Woodworker’s Journal senior editor Chris Marshall has talked to Franklin International about the unveiling of new labels for their Titebond® glues, and it’s got me thinking about the labels we all wear, particularly in the realm of woodworking.
Now, I’m not thinking of the names you call yourself when you’ve dropped a hammer on your toe, or other unrepeatable appellations. It’s more like the curiosity that provokes me when someone says “I’m not a woodworker, I’m a woodturner.” Or, “I’m a furniture maker.” Or “Dammit, Jim, I’m a doctor, not a…” Wait.
Anyway. If you love to work with wood, at heart, I think that makes you a woodworker. But I’m curious what you call yourself, and why.
