Summer Woodworking Is Sweet
In the woodworking industry, there is a common conception that woodworkers take the summer off from their craft. They are too busy mowing the lawn and going on vacations to get in the shop. I have to tell you that I have never understood where that idea came from.
It is more than a bit baffling, because, for me, summer is a great time to be in the shop. The long summer evenings with the overhead door open on the shop and the dogs running randomly in and out – it is wonderful. Now you do have to swat a few mosquitoes, and some drops of sweat end up on the workpiece, but those are small prices to pay for some of the sweetest hours of the year.
So I say cheers to summers in the workshop!
