Under the new branding, PortaMate products and Centipede Tool’s work stations are combined, along with the BORA Tool line, into BORA PortaMate as the main overarching brand for the company. Affinity Tool Works is now a separate division as the exclusive U.S. distributor for HTC, Tormek, Sjobergs and FISCH products.

Compared to other compressors with universal motors, Hitachi’s EC28M has a 2.8 amp direct-drive induction motor for more efficient and reliable performance. The motor also incorporates an overload protection circuit that stops it in a possible overheating situation. It produces 0.8 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of air at 90 psi and 1.3 cfm at 40 psi. The locking regulator and 90 lbs. on/125 lbs. off pressure switch means you don’t have to worry about the pressure wandering during operation or a pressure-starved tool on the job.

A steel roll cage protects the integrated control panel that centralizes the industrial regulator and gauges for simple operation and pressure adjustment. Chris Marshall: Bob, your best hope for sealing in those rodent smells is shellac. It makes an excellent barrier coat over all wood species, and it sticks to almost anything, including urine (which, let’s face it, is probably some or even most of the residual odor you are smelling). Zinsser makes a great product for this purpose, called Bullseye® SealCoat. It’s a clear dewaxed shellac that you can apply to those drawer interiors easily with a brush. It dries quickly and should help to diminish that mice smell. And since it doesn’t contain wax, you can apply other finishes like lacquer or varnish over it — they’ll stick just fine. SealCoat is also handy to have around the shop as a general purpose wood finish and sanding sealer. So, I’m sure you’ll find other uses for what’s left of the quart you buy.

“I was remodeling two dormer room ceilings. I was installing new insulation and drywall due to damage done by tree limbs in a storm. I needed a way of lifting the drywall to the ceiling. Knowing that it was going to be a lengthy job only working a few hours a day, the cost of renting a lift would be more than I could afford. I sat down and with pencil and paper and, after a couple of sketches, I came up with a suitable design that I could work with by myself to lift the ½-inch thick sheets up to install them. I made two wood base “T”s with wooden stretchers separating them about four and a half feet apart.” – James Sholtis

I used two pieces of 3/8-inch Baltic birch plywood, cut out the 5-inch circles, drilled the 5/8-inch hole, beveled the two pieces on edge and glued them together, forming the groove.
